"Pop into the Past
Down on Priory Street
Do the walk of fame
to an old backbeat.
When the sun goes down
on Priory Street
Angels pluck their harps
to the Devil's beat"
Excert From Priory Street Blues - lyric by Trev Teasdel - music Jim Pryal - Culture Fuzion
Priory Street in Coventry is an iconic street that runs past the ruins of the old Cathedral and the new one. Opposite is Coventry University - the former Lanch Poly - where many of the top undergroung, punk and ska bands have played over the decades. Monty Python walked down Priory Street singing I'm a lumber Jack with knotted handkerchiefs on their head, John and Yoko planted acorns of Peace in the nearby Cathedral grounds. Pete Chambers has established Coventry's Walk of Fame down the bottom and at the top is the forthcoming Coventry Music Exhibition. So much more to its mystic which will be blogged about on here soon. the will reflect that when it's finished.
COMING SOON - Coventry's new on line music magazine. This will be the networking page of the new magazine
which you will be able to download free from the main Priory Street site.
Brought to you by Hobo - a former Coventry magazine also on vox and which forms the archive of Hobo Magaines and Coventry's music history. By contrast this new magazine will focus on Coventry music NOW. We hope to feature contributions by some of the editors of past Coventry magazines as well as some of the more recent organiser / musicians in the City. More details soon - just getting things set up at present.
If you are a Coventry musician, venue, organiser, promoter keep us informed of your activities etc.
More later - Trev Teasdel
